English Lessons: Advanced Level In-Person
The Family Resource Center is a space for members' families to
connect & make memories too!
Many diverse and international student parents and postdoc parents arrive to campus with spouses/partners, parents, and other adult family members as caregivers. Are you looking for a supportive, collaborative space where they can learn and practice English language skills? The Family Center offers free weekly classes!
Through partnership with the Graduate School of Education's Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Program, the Family Center will host free classes for the adult family members in our Family Center community. Classes are for the adult (ages 18+) family members of student parents and postdoc parents at Penn who are members of the Family Resource Center. Caregivers are welcome to bring in small and quiet toys for children who may accompany them. Children must remain in the room under direct supervision of the caregiving adult, as described in the Family Center Visitor Policy.
Advanced Level – focused on academic vocabulary, reading comprehension, and interpretation exchange
This class takes place twice a week in the Family Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:30 AM - 12 PM, beginning Jan. 30 and ending May 8. Attendance is required in each class.
Pre-registration is required for English Lessons. This opportunity is sponsored by the Family Resource Center.

There is a front and side building entrance, both with a device for Penn Card swipe-access as well as touch screen doorbells. The Family Center can be found when you come down the stairwell, or select “B” in the elevator.
