Learn and practice Beginner Level English in the Family Center!

The Family Center is pleased to continue to offer English classes this Fall semester! Our English Lessons program is for our families who are just learning and practicing English. This Beginner Level class is intended for learners who know basic phrases, and would be able to order food in English at a restaurant. However, new English learners are welcome too. Expected outcomes are increased conversational skills, and an understanding of situation-specific language.

Classes will be offered weekly from September 11 through November 20, 2025. A different schedule will be set for the Spring semester, and re-registration will be required.

Limited seats are available and Registration is required to attend class. Students will be asked to sign-in with the Family Center using their name and the Family Center member's name, if not the same. Students should bring materials to take notes.

NOTE: The Family Center English Lessons program is an adult-centered program. The instructional lesson plans are developed with adult learners in mind. Any children present may accompany their adult in the classroom and must be supervised at all times.

The Family Center English Lessons program is a free, non-credit bearing series sponsored by the Family Resource Center. This opportunity is open to registered members of the Family Center, or their family members (adults 18 and older).

There is a front and side building entrance, both with a device for Penn Card swipe-access as well as touch screen doorbells. The Family Center can be found when you come down the stairwell, or select “B” in the elevator.
